Five years ago Arper brought its first showroom to Germany with the opening of its permanent exhibition in the Design Post in Cologne. Spanning over 200 square meters and two levels, Arper’s space at the Design Post highlights the colorful and rich diversity of its product line while showing off a wide array of furniture configurations suited for both residential and contract use.
Every two years, for an entire weekend, the old factories of Langenthal – a small town in the canton of Bern in Switzerland – become the stage for exhibitions dedicated to contemporary design: it is the “Designer’s Saturday”, now at its 14th year.
Design does not exist on paper or screen alone. It is meant to be made, built, put into use and lived. Loved, even. Through this process, design becomes more than concept or philosophy – it becomes a living system to better our lives, a conversation.
Arper is pleased to invite you to a special event to introduce new chair collections presented at Milan Design Week 2012, Juno and Saya, respectively designed by James Irvine and Lievore Altherr Molina.
Saya, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, is an iconic wooden chair, with a highly distinctive profile, available in three different wood colours and lacquered in various natural shades. It can be used in both public and private spaces, and will be available with wooden legs or chromed steel legs.
We are excited to report that Arper has won the IF Communication Award 2012 in the Print Media– Corporate Communication category. For almost six decades, the IF Design Awards have recognized outstanding achievements in design. The materials will be on display at the IF Design exhibition in Hannover and Hamburg, in the city of Haikou in China and, in February 2012, online on the IF Design website. The Awards Ceremony will be held on February 12th at the BMW World Headquarters in Munich.
From 11th to 13th November 2011, Arper participates at Love Design® a charity initiative promoted by AIRC, Italian Association for Cancer Research and ADI, Association for Industrial Design.
The International Jury of the 22nd Compasso d’Oro Award, presided over by Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis, has awarded the triennial COMPASSO d’ORO prize to Nuur, the table designed by Simon Pengelly. The Compasso d’Oro originated in Milan in 1954 from an idea of Giò Ponti. It is the most important Italian design award for the project, product and research, and is promoted by ADI, the Industrial Design Association.
Although the title “Designers’ Saturday” sounds modest enough, this biannual event in the small town of Langenthal, in Switzerland, is a big deal to design aficionados. Langenthal opens up raw spaces in industrial factories to the fantasy of jury-selected exhibitors, who feature their products in artfully designed installations.
