Material Matters 2025

Material Matters 2025

During London Design Festival, we will be participating in the Material Matters trade fair, held from 17 to 20 September at the iconic Space House in London.

We are proud to be part of In the Making 2.0, curated by tp bennett—an architecture and design firm focused on sustainability—and The Furniture Practice, a consultancy specialising in responsible workplace furniture. The exhibition spotlights sustainable innovation in design, showing how informed choices can reduce environmental impact across land, water, and air.

Now in its fourth edition, Material Matters gathers over 50 leading brands and voices to investigate the future of material intelligence. Set within Space House—a modernist, Grade II-listed icon recently reimagined by Squire & Partners—the fair creates space for reflection and action at the intersection of design and sustainability.

This year, we present two designs that reflect our ongoing commitment to uniting beauty, functionality, and environmental responsibility: Catifa Carta, made from PaperShell—a bio-based material derived from Swedish wood industry waste and engineered for full circularity—and Catifa (RE) 46, a 2025 update to our iconic Catifa 46, featuring a shell made entirely from recycled post-consumer and industrial plastic. Both designs showcase our approach to circularity, from material sourcing to end-of-life, offering timeless aesthetics grounded in environmental intelligence.

In the Making: Land

Wednesday 17 September, 3:00 PM

Material Matters, Space House, 1 Kemble Street, WC2B 4AN

Don’t miss our panel discussion on the importance of using land sustainably, moderated by Oli Stratford, Editor-in-Chief of Disegno Magazine.
We’ll discuss why land use changes can have negative impacts on the environment, and how we can design products and materials to use land more respectfully — embracing alternative resources and circular outcomes.
