Catifa began with a simple idea: an undulating form to support the body.

Connection, sensitivity, comfort and ease.

You have to keep both versions of sustainability in mind. Yes, I need to recycle and be as responsible as possible, but I also have to think about the big picture and where we are all headed.

The more people that can collaborate or work together the better. I am all for an open dialogue and exchange of ideas. That’s beneficial for everyone.

We discovered that all kind of objects — small or big, quotidian or design — can become interesting as long as we have the space to move around.

I always think about how voice works in design in a very simple way: you create a design language and then you modulate that tone based on your audience.

What is the essence of family?

Lifelong learning is the new norm

Waiting areas are in-between spaces, thresholds to entry for guests visiting institutions.

Filled with strangers or lled with peers, learning in auditoriums can create a feeling of camaraderie and collaborative focus.

Behind the scenes of classrooms and libraries, the administration of the Learning Sector helps to facilitate education by providing support to teachers, students, and institutions.

It is a private space where an individual can think, reflect, and transform learning from external knowledge into an internal belief.

In schools or in the world, libraries are resources for lifelong learning.

Cafeterias offer structured breaks from daily demands, and a chance to socialize with peers, friends, and colleagues.

Break rooms and watering holes are spaces for spontaneous social interactions and casual conversation.

For any age, today’s “active learning classrooms” present opportunities for modular, exible teaching contexts that suit the needs of the individual student.

Play is exploration without end and the freedom to wonder. Play opens children up to new ways of thinking and knowing.

All innovation starts as creative ideas, but not all creative ideas will become innovative ideas.

Design is partly about form giving, but it’s also about asking questions. It’s about observing behaviors, and then trying to synthesize all of those things into a process or an object or a system or an interface.

While the common idea is that a family of objects implies a series of commonalities, I am more interested in the differences between the objects.

The temporary has also something to do with your concept of ‘light’. Light because of limitation in time but also in the lightness of material and technique.

Intuition resonates with me as an art maker. It has more room in it than instinct or impulse.

Each piece is one of a kind, you can see it’s been touched, and held, and worked with. Over time, you see that everyone’s attracted to something different because everyone is unique, which may sound trite, but it’s also true.

We are literally standing on a spinning ball of erotic, explosive color. We don’t have a direct connection to the earth anymore. We’ve lost that knowledge.

I often find myself asking why I am crazy about a certain color - and I can't find the answer. It's just that it's the color I am passionate about.

Play is at its most profound when it deals with the social dimension. For a long time, board games were things that people, even families, did together as a kind of social lubricant. It gave people an occasion to come together.

Emotional tenor affects a lot of the things we do. If these aesthetics really bring more joy, we become more affectionate, more open, more collaborative, creative, willing.

When you use a well-designed object or space it makes you feel better. The design is there, but you aren’t aware of it.

My intention was to create various spaces through the design of a new modular system.

Paravan works well with all Arper collections, holding the different pieces together with a unified background. Just as Parentesit, Paravan is sound absorbing, and gives both an acoustic and visual focus to a space.

My experiences with Asian low seat culture informed the design. In Asia, you see people sitting on the floor or on low seats.
