Kata lounge chair, designed by the Barcelona based studio Altherr Désile Park wins the People’s Choice Award in Furniture Design in this year’s International AZ Awards presented by the Canadian magazine AZURE.
The AZ Awards, which are judged by 10 leaders in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, interiors and product and furniture design, celebrates the world’s best projects, products and ideas. Submissions came in from all around the world to celebrate the 12th year of this annual program, reaching novel heights in creatively solving problems with equity, sustainability and community in mind.
Amy Storek, Arper’s CEO Americas, comments: “It is no surprise that Kata has received this recognition from designers and design-savvy individuals alike. Arper’s first introduction using solid wood and our latest manufacturing innovations, Kata’s casual elegance is perfect for environments both indoors and out. Huge thanks to Azure Magazine for this award.”

Lightweight in form and environmental footprint, Kata is designed with circular sustainability at its core. Arper’s first solid wood lounge chair, Kata takes inspiration from artisan-made wood and woven straw chairs and reimagines the near universal typology using contemporary, sustainable solutions in an expression that’s both graphic and warm. Kata finds form in juxtaposition—an evocative gesture in the movement between material presence and minimal silhouette, softness and strength, tradition and technology.
