The prize awards three different types of recognition: Selection, Winner, and Best of Best. Arper’s collections received the Winner prize.
Presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2012, Saya and Juno are very different products in terms of shape, materials and functions: Saya, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, is an oak plywood chair with a comfortable backrest and a bold, iconic silhouette. Juno, one of James Irvine’s last creations, is a polypropylene seat characterized by its versatility perfectly suitable for a variety of settings, from domestic to contract interiors and exteriors.

The jury in charge of evaluating the products was composed of experts and designers from different sectors, featuring Sebastian Wrong, designer and co-founder of Established & Sons, London, Barbara Friedrich, chief editor of A & W Architektur und Wohnen, Hamburg, and Andrej Kupetz, General Manager, German Design Council, Frankfurt.
The products were awarded during the opening ceremony of IMM Cologne 2014, Germany’s foremost trade fair devoted to the world of interior design. The winning products were exhibited from 13 to 19 January 2014 in several spaces at the fair and are on show at the permanent exhibition at the Design Post in Cologne.
As well as being visible in all of Arper’s showrooms and exhibition spaces around the world, Saya and Juno collections will also be featured on the www.interior-innovation-award.de portal and in an annual publication available from March 2014. The publication will contain details of all the recipients of the Interior Innovation Award 2014 and in-depth features about the 2014 IMM Cologne.
