Arper is proud to support the inaugural edition of The World Around, a new day-long architectural conference that took place at the Times Center in New York City on January 25, 2020.
Organized by British curator Beatrice Galilee, The World Around focuses on the now, near and next of architectural projects, ideas, and initiatives. The conference was joined by twenty distinguished participants the likes of Noura Al Sayeh-Holtrop, Shumon Basar, Elizabeth Diller, Junya Ishigami, Bruce Mau, Emmanuel Pratt, Shohei Shigematsu, and Julia Watson.
Beatrice Galilee said, “As much as architecture is about bricks and mortar, steel and glass, it is also about how we think, feel, live, work, play, and dream. At The World Around, we reflected on how new ideas in architecture are affecting people’s lives in areas from urban planning to game design, from tech development to community-based projects. We also considered the broader forces that are sparking contemporary architectural culture, whether they’re art or activism, environmental studies or spatial research.”
As official partner to the conference, Arper supplied its Cila, Colina, Dizzie table, Kiik and Arcos collections throughout the event space including the main auditorium, the reception area, and the media lounge.
